The word Art is derived from Latin word “Ars” which means “The skill, method, or technique”. It has Ancients Greece Roman origin.

Art is defined to conveys a connotation of beauty. Art is a technique to complete a work in a particular manner to get the best result.

The art  can include performing arts education i.e; Dance, drama, music, literature, and poetry, story-telling, visual arts education in film, craft, design, media, and photography.

Our ancient Indian art consist of a variety of arts forms including painting, sculpture, pottery and textile art such as woven silk. Geographically, it spans the entire Indian subcontinent, including what is now India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Eastern Afghanistan. 

The origin of Indian art can be traced to pre-historic settlements in the 3^rd millennium BC. Indian art has had cultural influences as well as religious influences such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and Islam.

Definition :

 

According to Steve Mithen :  “ Art is set of image with symbolic meaning as a mean of communication”.

 According to R.N Tagore :  “Art is response of the creative soul to the call of the real beauty”.

 According to Aristotle : “Art is defined by Aristotle as the realization in external form of a true idea, and is traced back to that natural love of imitation that characterizes humans, and to pleasures which we feel in recognizing likenesses”.

 According to Eli Khamarov : “Art is an intellectual construct that gives rise to a positive emotional response when created with the correct intention”.

Objectives:

·      It is a technique to show ideas, feeling and experiences in visual form and with imagination, enjoyment and a sense of creativity.

·      Begin to develop sensitivity to qualities of line, shape, color, and tone, texture, pattern and rhythm and spatial organisation and 2D and 3D art.

·      Explore atmosphere content and impact in the work of artists especially when they relate to his/her own work.

·      It creates the curiosity and openness at the work of a wide range of artists and crafts people.

       Experiment in spontaneous, imaginative and increasingly structured ways with a range of art materials including pencils, paints, crayons, chalks, marker and inks.

Types of Arts: 

Art education refers to the discovery of the meaning of teaching for aesthetic experience

  Audio art : The art is for making sense of our hearing. 

                 e.g; story- telling, music, song.

2)    Visual art : The art which is uses of our visual perception ( to see/watch).

                  e.g; Painting, drawing, statue art etc.

3)    Audio-visual art : Art for making use of our auditory.

                            e.g; Play dance.
